USC annual food and fundraiser, Volley for a Cause, was a HUGE success this year! On 11/12/2021 we dropped off 117 pounds of donated food, and $856 in donated funds – which contributes 4,397 meals for families in our region!

Cassidy Jordan presented the donated food and funds to Maria Montaro at the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. Maria expressed her thanks to the volleyball boosters and team members, “Thank you so much for this wonderful gift! Your efforts will help ensure that our neighbors in need can enjoy a meal this holiday season. We are grateful that you have joined us in this fight to end hunger.”

THANK YOU USC players, families, coaches, and the community for your support of our annual drive!

Sydney Angel and Aubrey Lang were named 1st Team All Section, and 1st Team Big 56!!! Grace Triebsch was named 2nd Team All Section and 2nd Team Big 56!!! Alex Culp was named 3rd Team All Section and Big 56 Honorable Mention!!! Congratulations to all of these girls for their hard work and success on the court. Congratulations to the entire team for their their hard work and dedication to the team. Individual awards on a team are misleading: it takes the entire team for individuals to shine, especially in volleyball! Congratulations to the coaches too, the girls didn’t do it alone!

It was a busy week that saw USC go 3-0! Matches against Chartiers Valley, Baldwin and Canon Mac had the Panthers winners of 9 sets, losing only 1 set to Canon Mac. The effort kept the Panthers ranked in the Top 10 and secured a playoff spot for the second consecutive year! Congratulations to the players and coaches!

The week was especially spectacular for outside hitter Jackie Bell. Jackie led the team in serve receive rating (2.03 which is awesome), was 3rd on the team in hitting percentage at .233, and tied for the team lead in kills at 31. Jackie added 4 aces, 3 blocks and 3 assists for the week. She also led the team with 36 digs! That is quite a week! Congratulations Jackie!!!

Despite a week where the team went 0-2, the Panthers were given credit for their oh so close 5 set loss to Bethel Park and for pushing undefeated Moon to 30-28 in the second set. The Panthers rank #10 after week 5 in the season.

Grace Triebsch was named AAAA Middle Hitter Player of the Week!!!! Grace racked up 6 kills, 3 aces and 3 digs against stiff competition. She also lead the team with 6 blocks during the week! Unofficially, Grace becomes the first USC sophomore to win the award since the likes of Isabelle Walsh and Samantha Amos (USC Hall of Famers). Congratulations Grace!!!!

The week saw USC take down rivals Mt. Lebanon and Peters Township in straight set wins. The Panthers improved their section record to 5-2 and maintained their #9 ranking in Quad A of the WPIAL standings. The team will have the opportunity to avenge their 2 section losses this week, as they face Bethel Park and Moon. Buckle up, it’s going to be a great challenge this week!

Junior Alex Culp earned AAAA Player of the Week honors for the Outside Hitter position. Alex recorded 20 combined kills in the matches against Lebo and Peters. She had only 7 errors in 61 attempts for a .213 hitting percentage. Alex showed her back line abilities recording 9 digs during the week. She added 4 aces and 1 block. Congratulations Alex!!!!
